Russian servicemen who will be part of the joint Russian-Turkish center for monitoring the ceasefire in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are preparing to leave for Azerbaijan, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reveals.

“In the course of training, servicemen study the structure, purpose, tasks and functions, the procedure for organizing the work of the joint center, as well as the culture, traditions and peculiarities of the country where the tasks are set to be performed,” the Defense Ministry says.

The personnel of the joint center with an equal number of soldiers from Russia and Turkey will carry out the tasks of monitoring the situation and the ceasefire using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
