Armenia says Azerbaijan's aggression can't bring lasting solution

Armenia does not believe Azerbaijan's aggression and use of force can serve as a basis for a lasting solution or an opportunity for regional cooperation, Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian said Wednesday, January 27.

At a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, Aivazian said the region is faced with serious challenges posed by Azerbaijan's dangerous attempt to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by force.

"Iran is an important country in the region, and we respect Iran's approaches in building relations with neighbors. But we'd like to stress once again that only a lasting peace – which addresses the interests of everyone involved and doesn't entail so-called "victories and defeats" – can create real guarantees for security, stability and development in the region," Aivazian told Zarif.

Zarif is in the Armenian capital as part of his regional tour. He has already visited Baku and Moscow, and will travel to Ankara and Tbilisi afterwards.
