Ex-MP detained after calling for Pashinyan's removal, "including with weapons"

Former lawmaker, war veteran Vahan Badasyan has been detained after calling for the “removal” of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan "through the use of weapons", Gor Abrahamyan, an aide to the Prosecutor General, told PanARMENIAN.Net on Thursday, January 28.

Badasyan visited the Yerablur military pantheon in Yerevan on the 29th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian army and said that it was necessary to remove Pashinyan from power because the Prime Minister “has destroyed the army.”

The ex-member of parliament said the “enemy must be physically removed, including through the use of weapons.”

"I am consciously making calls involving threats, let the National Security Service arrest me. The enemy must be destroyed, and individuals must do that. I, for one, am ready," he said.

Pashinyan came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
