The Turkish authorities are planning to expand cooperation on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to the so-called "3+3" format, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Friday, January 29.

“We need to promote a ceasefire. So we plan to cooperate on the matter in the “3+3” format (Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia, Turkey - Ed.), Cavusoglu said, according to TASS.

The top Turkish diplomat noted that "a mere desire" for normalization in the South Caucasus region is not enough, and "it is necessary to achieve a permanent ceasefire by expanding cooperation."

Peace and stability in this region is in the interests of everyone. This will be of the greatest benefit to Armenia and its people. Therefore, we expect constructive steps from Armenia in this direction.

As part of his regional trip, Zarif visited Baku, Moscow, Yerevan, Tbilisi and Ankara this week, where he discussed the Karabakh settlement process, among other things.
