The ruling My Step bloc of the Armenian National Assembly met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Sunday, February 7.

Following the meeting, the bloc said in a statement that the Prime Minister's proposal to hold snap parliamentary elections did not receive a positive response from the parliamentary opposition, and that there was no demand for early elections among the general public.

"The My Step bloc continues to support the Prime Minister and the government in the implementation of the roadmap unveiled on November 18," the statement said.

In late 2020, Pashinyan announced his intention to hold snap elections to the National Assembly sometime in 2021. The Prime Minister came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
