Musk's Starlink accepting $99 pre-orders from Armenia

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk's Starlink is taking pre-orders from Armenia, IT and media consultant Artur Papyan said in a Facebook post Friday, February 26.

Papyan said you can pay $99 a month and subscribe to Starlink's service in Gyumri, a city in the northeast of Armenia. According to a screenshot he shared on social media, the company is targeting coverage in the area in late 2021.

A quick search on the service's website shows, however, that coverage in other parts of the country, like the capital Yerevan, the towns of Abovyan and Kapan, will be available from 2022.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation being constructed by SpaceX providing satellite Internet access. The constellation will consist of thousands of mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit. As of 27 January 2021, SpaceX has launched 1,035 Starlink satellites. In total, nearly 12,000 satellites are planned to be deployed, with a possible later extension to 42,000
