Sarkissian, Pashinyan meet in Yerevan

President Armen Sarkissian met Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan on Saturday, March 13, as part of a series of discussions initiated by Sarkissian to find ways to overcome the political crisis in Armenia.

According to a statement from the President's office, the two discussed the situation in the country, and the ways to diffuse tensions. In this context, the President and the PM weighed in on possible snap parliamentary elections as a solution to the conflict.

Also Saturday, Sarkissian will hold separate talks with the leaders of My Step and Bright Armenia parliamentary blocs. The meetings come after Sarkissian's office said the President's earlier invitation extended to the country's opposition and authorities for negotiations has become "unworkable at this stage".

Sarkissian earlier invited the country's Prime Minister, the leaders of parliamentary blocs and the Homeland Salvation Movement over to his residence, to discuss the situation and find mutually acceptable solutions to overcome the crisis.
