Made-in-Armenia ventilators ready for research, certification, production

The first Armenian-made ventilators are ready for clinical research, certification and production, Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan said on Wednesday, March 31.

According to him, the process of developing ventilators began in 2020 as part of a joint government program with the Engineering Association. Arshakyan noted that the device is a complex engineering system, which uses algorithms for controlling the volume and pressure of air to replace the human respiratory system as required.

The project was implemented in collaboration with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. "Five samples are ready and are being tested for further certification and production," the Minister wrote in Facebook.

Arshakyan noted earlier that according to some estimates, the Armenian ventilators will cost half as much as those currently available in the market, and that the country will be able to produce about 40-50 devices every month.
