Magnitude 2.2 earthquake hits southern Armenia

An earthquake of magnitude 2.2 occurred 8 km south of the town of Dastakert, Syunik Province of Armenia, on Saturday, April 3, the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

The quake hit at a depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter at 12:15 pm local time, authorities said. Based on incoming information, the quake was felt by the residents of the town of Dastakert.

Magnitude 4.7 and magnitude 3.7 tremors hit Armenia in February and were followed by dozens of aftershocks in the next several days.
