Armenia Army chief meets parents of missing soldiers, POWs

The Chief of the Armenian Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Artak Davtyan on Friday, April 9 met the parents and family members of Armenian prisoners of war and servicemen who went missing during the war in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) in fall 2020.

According to a press release from the Defense Ministry, Davtyan detailed the parents about the search operations and answered their questions.

"The Chief of the General Staff assured that questions raised are always in the focus of attention of the military-political leadership of the country, including the Ministry of Defense. He said everything is being done to clarify the fate of the missing as soon as possible, as well as to find all the remains and identify the bodies of the dead," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The sides also agreed to hold such meetings regularly.

Parents whose sons went missing during the Second Karabakh War staged a rally in Yerevan on April 8 and 9. Family members gathered in front of the Defense Ministry in Yerevan, blocking the entrance to the facility.
