Belgium approves grant for Armenian soldiers' rehab program

The Foreign Ministry of Belgium has approved a grant project submitted by Support Wounded Soldiers, a non-governmental organization in Armenia, the Armenian Embassy in Brussels said in a Facebook post Friday, April 10.

The program initiated with the support of the Embassy was approved by the Foreign Ministry even though Armenia was not among the countries chosen by Belgium for grant projects in 2021.

The funds will be used to purchase equipment necessary for surgical procedures of soldiers injured during the Second Karabakh War, in order to improve the lives of the Armenian servicemen and help them reintegrate back into society.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
