President sends judicial amendments bill to Armenia top court

President Armen Sarkissian has sent a bill on making amendments in the Constitutional Law on Judicial Code to Armenia's top court to determine the constitutionality of the motion. A spokesperson for the Constitutional Court, Yeva Tovmasyan, said the bill was received on Monday, April 12.

A 20-day period has been established for the preliminary examination of the application, Tovmasyan added.

According to a statement from the President's office, the proposed amendments "are situational and problematic in terms of legal certainty, proportionality, separation of powers, as well as compliance with the constitutional principles and requirements of the independence of the judiciary."
