Armenian Genocide billboards displayed across Moscow

The Union of Armenians in Russia has erected billboards across Moscow to raise awareness about the Armenian Genocide.

According to information posted on the Union's Facebook page, such a campaign has been implemented in previous years too, "as a reminder that more than a hundred years ago our people went through the most cruel page in our history – the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire."

"In these difficult days for the whole world, when we are facing many new challenges, these billboards become not only a reminder of the tragedy of a century ago, but also evidence that the greatness of spirit and faith in God make us strong and invincible," the Union captioned the photos.

On April 24, 1915, a large group of Armenian intellectuals was rounded up and assassinated in Constantinople by the Ottoman government. On April 24, Armenians worldwide will be commemorating the 106th anniversary of the Genocide which continued until 1923. Some three dozen countries, hundreds of local government bodies and international organizations have so far recognized the killings of 1.5 million Armenians as Genocide. Turkey denies to this day.
