Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan and General Director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin agreed on Tuesday, April 26 to create a working group for joint activity in the space industry, the press service of the Security Council reported.

"In the context of the development of space activity, mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia is a given priority," the Security Council said in a statement.

"Weighing in on the prospects of development of space activity in Armenia, Armen Grigoryan noted the fact that the country has adopted a law on space activity, thanks to which companies operating in this area will receive a number of tax benefits."

Rogozin said he highly values the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the field of space monitoring. He proposed to expand cooperation in the design and development of space technologies.

A number of agreements in the space industry have been signed between Russia and Armenia over the years. In particular, within the development of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, the Russian Space Systems Holding (RSS, part of Roskosmos) and Armenia's Geokosmos CJSC signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of remote sensing technologies.
