Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan has said that the possibility to stop the 44-day war in early October was perceived as a treason by the authorities in Armenia.

During a meeting at the Ministry of Urban Development, Harutyunyan said he had a clear idea of what consequences the war was going to have as early as the beginning of October, whereas political circles in Armenia were unable to reach a common ground on the matter.

"Since the ceasefire agreement of May 12, 1994, our military-political leaders have not learned the right lessons from the global experience, and despite having the upper hand in negotiations, could not come up with more favorable solutions," the Karabakh President said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
