Construction of new district underway in Karabakh's Karmir Shuka

The construction of a new neighborhood has started in the Karmir Shuka community of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), chief of the President’s staff Artak Beglaryan said on Facebook Thursday, April 29.

The new district will be home to more than 100 new apartments intended for displaced persons. Beglaryan expressed hope that the IDPs will have new housing options soon.

Beglaryan also said that 2 days ago he visited the Taghavard and Karmir Shuka communities with Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan and Prosecutor General Gurgen Nersisyan, to learn more about the security conditions in the villages, as well as challenges facing the displaced persons.

Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Migration Mane Tandilyan said in January that around 34,000 residents of Karabakh have become homeless as a result of the six-week war unleashed by Azerbaijan in September 2020.
