Karabakh top diplomat says new war is "unlikely"

Foreign Minister of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) David Babayan believes there is “little likelihood” of a new war given the role of Russia and its peacekeepers as guarantors of security, Armenpress reports.

Babayan said at a meeting with the academic staff and students of the Artsakh State University on Tuesday, May 4 that any attack on Karabakh will be an attack against Russia.

“We must uphold our national resilience, keep our system of values strong. Any difficulty also creates opportunities. We must be able to use those opportunities wisely,” Karabakh's top diplomat said.

Babayan also noted that the international recognition of Artsakh will remain the Foreign Ministry’s priority.
