Media: Azerbaijanis violate Armenia's border near new settlement

The Azerbaijani military violated Armenia's border and crossed into the country from a new area on Thursday, May 21, the Armenian service of RFE/RL reported citing residents of a nearby village.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province).

The Azerbaijanis reportedly advanced towards the village of Khoznavar and threatened a group of shepherds who were forced to abandon the area. Though the situation is under control, villagers said some residents, including women and children, had been evacuated for security reasons.
