Hanrapetutyun not ruling out coalition with Pashinyan's Civil Contract

Ani Khachatryan from Hanrapetutyun (Republic) Party has not ruled out a coalition with Civil Contract after the snap parliamentary elections in June.

Civil Contract party is headed by acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"Everything depends on the outcome of elections and further processes. Generally, a parliamentary model of government contains coalitions," said Khachatryan, who is running for a seat at the National Assembly.

Khachatryan noted, however, that her party won't join forces with political circles that have had anything to do with the Armenian parliament shooting in 1999.

According to her, 103 people are included in the party's electoral list, which is headed by former Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan. Lawyer and former Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan is among them.

Pashinyan announced on March 18 that Armenia will hold snap parliamentary elections on June 20. Pashinyan came under fire after signing a statement with the Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents to end the war in Nagorno-Karabakh almost 45 days after the start of the military hostilities. Under the deal, the Armenian side was forced to return all the seven regions surrounding Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
