Aliyev makes fresh threats against Armenia

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has made fresh threats against the Armenians and declared that his country will strengthen its border and that no one can put pressure on them, JamNews reports.

“Some pro-Armenian countries, circles are making statements, the European Parliament has again adopted a resolution on the basis of false information. The Azerbaijani people should not pay attention to them. These are all meaningless words," Aliyev said in Aghdam, which came under Azerbaijan's control during the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh in fall 2020.

"The important thing is that today we are here, we are standing here and will live on these lands forever."

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province). One Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting on May 25, while six others were captured on May 27.

Aliyev also made fresh threats against the Armenians, accusing them of provocations: "If there is even a small threat to the state security of Azerbaijan, the enemy will be destroyed immediately and on the spot."
