Russian peacekeepers conduct combat training classes in Karabakh

The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have conducted combat training classes in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

During the training to ensure the security of the observation post, the peacekeepers worked out mechanisms for preventing provocations, repelling an attack on the observation post, with the involvement of detachments and a fire brigade on duty.

The Russian Defense Ministry said no ceasefire violations were registered in the Karabakh conflict zone over the past week, and no provocations against Russian servicemen have been reported.

Some 2000 Russian peacekeepers were deployed to the region immediately after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
