Aliyev, Erdogan said to have agreed on "Zangezur corridor"

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that a statement signed by himself and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan contains clear provisions on the "Zangezur corridor".

Aliyev described the document as "historic" and revealed that it concerns all areas of cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of defense.

“Today we are not just talking about the Zangezur corridor, which will connect Azerbaijan and Turkey by road and rail, but we are also taking practical steps,” the Azeri leader said, Haqqin.az reports.

According to Turkish media reports, Aliyev said the document mentions the opening of "a new transport line".

The Armenian side has repeatedly denied being involved in negotiations for the provision of a "corridor" to Azerbaijan, stressing that they have only agreed to unblock transport communications in the region.
