Erdogan says Russia "being helpful" in "Zangezur corridor" project

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Russia is "being helpful" in the process of creation of the "Zangezur corridor" through the southern Armenian province of Syunik, Daily Sabah reports.

The Armenian side has repeatedly denied being involved in negotiations for the provision of a "corridor" to Azerbaijan, stressing that they have only agreed to unblock transport communications in the region.

Answering whether Russia was impeding the process of opening "the Zangezur corridor", Erdogan said that this was not the case. “On the contrary, Russia is being helpful in this regard.

“We will soon meet with Russian President Putin.”

Armenia's caretaker Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan earlier urged the public against giving in to any kind of manipulation, including those coming from Azerbaijan, about an alleged agreement to provide a "corridor" through Armenia to Azerbaijan.
