Civil Contract party will have a constitutional majority in parliament and form a government, Armenia's caretaker Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a Facebook post on Monday, June 21, after his party won snap parliamentary elections a day earlier.
Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 53.92% of the vote, while Hayastan (Armenia) bloc headed by second President Robert Kocharyan secured 21.04% of the ballots. "I Have Honor" bloc too will get seats in the parliament.
Pashinyan earlier summoned supporters to the Republic Square in downtown Yerevan at 8:00 pm on Monday to "hold a solemn ceremony of handing over the people's steel mandate to the newly elected Prime Minister."
