Russia clears Sputnik-V vaccines for pregnant women

Health Minister Mikhail Murashko has said Sputnik V, Russia’s most widely used vaccine out of four domestically developed shots, has been cleared for pregnant women, the Associated Press reports.

Pregnant women were previously ineligible for vaccination. Murashko cited “positive” study results but didn’t provide the data.

Meanwhile, daily new cases in Russia grew from about 9,000 in early June to about 17,000 on June 18 and over 20,000 on June 24 and 25.

Sputnik-V is also being widely used in Armenia's vaccination program, alongside AstraZeneca and SinoVac shots.
