Armenia, Italy sign defense cooperation agreement for 2021

Armenia and Italy have signed a defense cooperation agreement for 2021 during military-political consultations that took place in Yerevan on Thursday, July 15, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia reports.

Head of the the Armenian Ministry's Defense Policy Directorate Levon Ayvazyan and Chief of the International Relations Service of the Italian Defense Staff, Brigadier General David Morpurgo took part in the consultations.

During the meetings, issues of regional security and international processes, as well as cooperation between the defense ministries of Armenia and Italy were discussed. The two agreed to resume cooperation interrupted last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Based on the agreements reached, the parties signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of defense in 2021. According to the action plan, a total of 11 events in both countries related to the exchange of experience and training of personnel will be held.
