Armenia, Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority mull cooperation

Armenian president Armen Sarkissian on Tuesday, July 27 met with Toyoshi Fuketa, Commissioner of Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority, to discuss nuclear safety cooperation between the two countries.

Fuketa expressed readiness to launch cooperation with Armenia, noting that the Nuclear Authority constantly equips NPPs adapting them to possible risks, and that their experience in this field can be instructive and useful for partners.

The two weighed in on nuclear safety regulations, nuclear fuel and nuclear waste management, as well as joint research in nuclear physics.

The Nuclear Regulation Authority is an administrative body of the Cabinet of Japan established to ensure nuclear safety in Japan as part of the Ministry of the Environment.
