The implementation of trilateral agreements signed by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia is a priority for the normalization of the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a document sent to the 76th UN General Assembly on Thursday, August 5.

The Foreign Ministry said the Russian side considers it useful to involve UN agencies and, in particular, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in humanitarian activities in the zone where Russian peacekeeping forces have been deployed in Karabakh.

"The parameters of their possible work should be agreed in direct coordination with Baku and Yerevan," the document noted.

After the end of hostilities in Karabakh, international organizations have not been involved in humanitarian work there, with the exception of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Stéphane Dujarric, a spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, has said in the past that Azerbaijan was hindering the organization's humanitarian mission to Nagorno-Karabakh.
