Azerbaijanis open fire on Armenian positions again

Azerbaijani forces on Saturday, August 7 opened fire on the Armenian positions around Sev Lake in Syunik, using various caliber firearms, the Defense Ministry reports.

The Armenian side took suppressive measures to put an end to the Azerbaijani provocations. No casualties were reported.

The Azeris also shelled Armenian positions a day earlier, firing on the posts near Yeraskh, Ararat province. A video surfaced later in the day to show Azeri troops deliberately setting fire to areas between Armenian and Azerbaijani positions.

The footage proved that the Azerbaijani side not only opened fire on the grass near the Armenian posts, but also deliberately threw burning objects onto the area. A vast territory was seen burning and smoking as a result.

Azerbaijani forces violated Armenia’s border in several sections in the provinces of Syunik and Gegharkunik on May 12 and 13 and are still refusing to withdraw their troops from the area. Five Armenian servicemen have been killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting, a dozen others have been wounded, while six troops were captured on May 27, although four of them have already returned home.
