Armenia eyes deeper TRACECA cooperation

Armenia is weighing opportunities for deepening economic cooperation within the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA). The matter was discussed at the meeting of the country's Minister of Territorial Administration Gnel Sanosyan and Infrastructure and TRACECA Secretary General Asset Assavbayev in Yerevan.

Sanosyan noted there are good opportunities for the development of regional transport communication and stressed Armenia's readiness to implement them.

Assavbayev, meanwhile, unveiled program priorities and projects currently being implemented and those planned for the future. He weighed in on the introduction of a unified digital platform for the organization of transit cargo transportation in TRACECA member countries, the installation of a number of technical standards, initiatives to simplify border crossing procedures aimed at facilitating the transportation process, reducing costs, as well as increasing the overall efficiency and attractiveness of the corridor.

During the meetings, Sanosyan and Assavbayev discussed opportunities for deepening regional economic cooperation in the context of the development of transport communication between Armenia and regional countries, including Central Asian states.
