Kairat coach resigns after defeat to Armenia's Alashkert

Head coach of the Almaty-based football club Kairat Kiril Keker has stepped down, one day after the club lost 2-3 in an away match against Armenia’s Alashkert in the third qualifying round of the Europe League.

"Unfortunately, we could not achieve the result we wanted. That’s why I decided to step down as head coach," said Kiril Keker, while thanking the club for the trust and the opportunity to work as manager, Kazinform reports.

Alashkert, meanwhile, made history on Thursday, August 12, becoming the first Armenian club to reach the Europa League playoffs where they will face Glasgow Rangers (Scotland).
