Memorandum on cooperation and establishment of the South Caucasian intergovernmental council was signed in London the other day. Armenian National Assembly vice speaker Tigran Torosian has stated that reviewing the meeting of the parliamentary delegations of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan 27 June-1 July. According to him, the memorandum states the readiness for the cooperation of the parliaments of the three countries, importance of strengthening of democracy in the region and need to settle the present issue, strengthening the values common to all mankind. Torosian reported the Council would include delegations consisting of ten members, three of which will be permanent and the others elective. As the RA NA vice speaker noted, the decisions passed by the Council would not be compulsory for the parliaments but might become a basis for making corresponding steps by every country. According to Torosian, the next meeting of the parliamentarians will take place in fall 2002 and will be dedicated to the integration of the parliaments of the South Caucasian countries in Europe.
