Armenia-India friendship group to be re-established in parliament

The Armenian-Indian friendship group will soon be re-established in the National Assembly, which will play a significant role in expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, President of the Parliament Alen Simonyan sais at a meeting with India's ambassador to Yerevan Kishan Dan Dewal on Wednesday, September 15.

According to a press release from the parliament, Simonyan noted during the meeting that Armenia highly appreciates the development of friendly relations with India. Simonyan said he expects that the establishment of a similar friendship group in the Parliament of India will create an opportunity to further deepen the legislators’ ties.

Highlighting the positive collaboration between Armenia and India on international platforms, Armenia's top legislator said he appreciates the balanced approach of the Indian Government around the vital issues for Armenia in international organizations.

The two also weighed in on regional security. In this context, the Armenian side stressed New Delhi's approach to the fact that the Karabakh conflict should be resolved peacefully within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.

The Indian Ambassador, meanwhile, highly assessed the support of Armenia to the peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue on international platforms.
