PACE to debate humanitarian consequences of Karabakh war

Armenia-related topics are on the agenda of the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which is taking place from 27 to 30 September in Strasbourg, Council of Europe spokesperson Tatiana Baeva said on Monday, September 27.

The draft agenda of the session includes the observation of the snap parliamentary elections in Armenia (20 June). The debate will be held on 27 September, with a presentation from George Katrougalos (Greece).

A debate on the “Humanitarian consequences of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan” is also scheduled for 27 September. Rapporteur Paul Gavan (Ireland, UEL) will present the report.

Gavan traveled to Armenia and Azerbaijan in May and July, respectively. The visits were arranged to allow him to understand better the role and contribution of international organizations working on this issue in Azerbaijan, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
