Armenia: Delta wave stronger than previous ones

The number of coronavirus patients in serious or critical condition is bigger than during previous waves, Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan told reporters on Tuesday, September 28, Pastinfo reports.

Avanesyan said the situation is "tense", with 20 medical institutions providing treatment to people infected with Covid-19, as the number of cases is expected to grow within a week. According to her, all the hospital beds are being mobilized across the country

"Unfortunately, the delta variant is the reason we need more hospitalization, and the number of severe and critical cases is even higher than during the previous waves," the Health Minister said.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Armenia grew by 772 to reach 259779 on September 28. So far, 240,730 people have recovered, 5277 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 1205 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
