Pashinyan: No changes in Armenian army positions in Syunik

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told lawmakers on Wednesday, October 27 that no changes in positions held by the Armenian military have been made near Mount Pela - an area in the province of Syunik near the Azerbaijani border.

"The commander of the border troops of the National Security Service has clarified that no such changes have happened," Pashinyan said.

"Our border guards have been serving in the same positions since December 2020. I don't know what else can be said."

Pashinyan's comments came amid uncertainty and conflicting information from a number of officials about the alleged withdrawal of the Armenian troops from said strategic positions. Gevorg Parsyan, the mayor of Kapan in Syunik, was the first to raise the matter, but Syunik governor Melikset Poghosyan and the National Security Service weighed in too to deny the information.
