Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said Armenia could make wearing masks in open areas mandatory again.

Pashinyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, October 28, that the situation with the spread of the coronavirus is serious, though the country should not impose a strict lockdown.

"We are now discussing the possibility of making face masks in open spaces mandatory. I do not rule out that such a decision could be made," the PM said.

He noted that all the adults of his family have been vaccinated.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Armenia grew by 2307 to reach 302,450 on October 28. So far, 264,678 people have recovered, 6189 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 1280 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
