Armenia alliance launching "nationwide resistance"

The opposition Armenia bloc is launching a "nationwide resistance" in Armenia, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the Diaspora, in order to "neutralize the external threats, to rule out the eviction of Armenians from Artsakh and the Turkification of Armenia, to establish solidarity in domestic life, to unite the Armenians" around the world.

The bloc published a declaration on Tuesday, November 8, the day their supporters gathered at Yerevan's central Freedom Square for a rally.

The declaration said it is necessary to restore Armenia's commitment to guarantee the security of the people of Artsakh and the realization of the right to self-determination, and that any person representing Armenia "can not sign any document of political or military nature in violation of the Constitution."

The bloc also said it seeks to remove "the symbol of defeat" from power.

"Armenia will be a sovereign state, the Armenian people will live in a fair, strong country," the declaration added.

Armenia bloc is headed by ex-President Robert Kocharyan who was elected to parliament in the June 20 elections but chose to give up his seat. The alliance is planning to take their struggle to the streets.
