OSCE chief calls for immediate de-escalation on Armenian-Azeri border

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ann Linde has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to de-escalate the situation on the border between the two countries immediately.

Azerbaijan launched a new provocation in the province of Syunik on Tuesday, shelling the Armenian positions at the same time, the Defense Ministry reported earlier. Authorities have already confirmed deaths and injuries among the Armenian army personnel. Although the Defense Ministry did not provide a specific number of deaths and injuries, it did reveal that the Armenian side has also lost two positions in Syunik.

"[I] share deep concern of Minsk Group Co-Chairs regarding reported incidents in the region, including those along Armenia-Azerbaijan border," Linde said on Twitter.

"Express my full support for their efforts & call on sides to de-escalate immediately & take steps to resolve outstanding issues."
