Charter flights to reconnect Istanbul, Yerevan, says Turkey

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that Turkey and Armenia will restart charter flights between Istanbul and Yerevan, Reuters reports.

Cavusoglu made the remarks during his ministry's budget discussions in parliament on Monday, December 13.

"To improve relations between Turkey and Armenia, charter flights will be opened," Cavusoglu said, according to RIA Novosti.

Armenia and Turkey signed a landmark peace accord in 2009 to restore ties and open their shared border after decades, but the deal was never ratified and ties have remained tense.
