Turkey to unveil carriers for Istanbul-Yerevan flights "in coming days"

Turkish and Armenian companies have applied for permission for charter flights between Istanbul and Yerevan, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu said on Wednesday, December 15.

According to him, the Turkish transport ministry will evaluate the applications and there would be more information in the coming days about which airlines will get the authorization.

Also Wednesday, Cavusoglu revealed that Turkey has named Serdar Kilic, a former ambassador to the United States, as special envoy to work on the normalization of ties with Armenia.

The Turkish Foreign Minister said earlier that Turkey and Armenia will mutually appoint special envoys to discuss steps to normalize ties. The statement was welcomed by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
