The mother of the late Major General of the Azerbaijan Army, Polad Hashimov, has claimed that his son was killed by current army chief of staff Karim Veliyev, according to video footage published by exiled Azerbaijani blogger and activist Mirzali Mahammad.

Hashimov was an Azerbaijani major general who served as the Deputy Commander and the Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps.

According to the country's Defense Ministry, he was killed in clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan in July 2020.
