2.6-magnitude earthquake shakes Armenia's south

A 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck the border area near the southern Armenian town of Kapan near the border with Azerbaijan on Sunday, January 9 evening, the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.

The tremor happened at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface. It has not caused any damage, but was felt by people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.

Weak shaking was felt in the towns of Meghri and Kajaran.
