Lawmaker from Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party Eduard Aghajanyan has expressed concern about Russia's invasion of Ukraine․ Addressing the OCSE Parliamentary Assembly on Friday, February 25, the MP said he is "deeply concerned by current developments in Ukraine because each war is a tragedy that implies multiple lost lives, casualties and other losses."
Aghajanyan then weighed in on the war of aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 27, 2020 in the midst of a global pandemi, which he said had tragic consequences and has seriously undermined the credibility of the OSCE.
"More than a year after signing a trilateral ceasefire statement on November 9, 2020, the prospects for establishing peace in the region are still elusive," the lawmaker said, citing Azerbaijan's torture of Armenian prisoners of war, Baku's constant encroachment on Armenian soil, and Azerbaijan's failure to honor trilateral agreements signed with Russia.
"Contrary to Azerbaijan, Armenia has proved in several occasions that it is ready to undertake serious steps towards a lasting peace in the region."
