Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelensky has addressed a statement directly to Russian president Vladimir Putin, Marca reports.

Tensions remain high, despite an agreement for humanitarian corridors, and Zelensky has called for more negotiations.

"Sit down with me at the negotiations table, I'm free," Zelensky said at a press conference with international media present.

"Just not 30 metres away like with [French president, Emmanuel] Marcron or [German chancellor, Olaf] Scholz.

"I'm a neighbour, I don't bite, I'm a normal man.

"What are you afraid of? I'm not a terrorist."

Zelensky was addressing the press in a search for international support.

"The whole world started making decisions too late," he said in a recent television address. "I want to thank the countries that are helping with weapons. We are thankful, but it's too late."

Ukraine continue to fight to defend their country as Russia edge closer to the capital of Kyiv, with hopes of a diplomatic solution remaining as negotiations in Belarus continue between delegations from both countries.
