President reaffirms Armenia's support for Karabakh peaceful settlement

President Vahagn Khachaturyan on Friday, April 1 reaffirmed Armenia's full support for the peaceful and final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, his office said.

During a meeting with OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Poland's Minister for Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau, Khachaturyan stressed that Armenia has always been in favor of peace in the region. He stressed the need for a comprehensive settlement of the conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and stressed the importance of protecting the fundamental rights of the people of Artsakh.

Rau, meanwhile, stressed the importance of establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus, noting that the parties to the conflict must first show great will and political readiness for a final settlement.

He noted that the OSCE will continue to make every effort to promote a peaceful settlement of the conflict and to ensure stability and peace in the region.

Rau earlier met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the two discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
