France reaffirms its full commitment, both on a bilateral basis and as the President of the Council of the European Union and Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, to the promotion of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday, April 11.

"In this capacity, [France] continues to work with Armenia and Azerbaijan to make progress on humanitarian issues, and continues to support work to delimit the border, end the isolation of the region, preserve heritage, conclude a peace treaty between the two countries, and resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue," the statement reads.

"To this end, a videoconference meeting was organized at the initiative of the President of the Republic with the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Azerbaijan and the President of the European Council February 4."

The French Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, Brice Roquefeuil, is currently on a working visit to Yerevan. Roquefeuil has already met with Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, and the two have discussed the role of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
