Armenia opposition boycotts parliament session to leave for Karabakh

The opposition Armenia and "I Have Honor" blocs boycotted the National Assembly session on Tuesday, April 12, storming out of the parliament hall.

Seyran Ohanyan from the Armenia alliance took to the floor, attached a flag of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) onto the podium and declared that the opposition lawmakers were departing for Artsakh and the border provinces of Armenia.

Before launching the campaign, Ohanyan said the authorities of Armenia are not capable of resisting the internal and external threats facing the country.

"Recent developments confirm concerns that everything is going according to the Azerbaijani-Turkish agenda," Civilnet cited Ohanyan as saying. "Within the so-called peace deal, we are preparing our people for new concessions, defeat and humiliation."

According to him, MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party always abstains when it comes to Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Due to the current situation, the parliamentary opposition announces that it will not participate in this week's sittings and discussions, we are leaving for Artsakh և border regions of Armenia," Ohanyan said
