President: Building strong Armenia best tribute to Genocide victims

President Vahagn Khachaturyan believes the best way to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Genocide is to establish a strong, democratic Armenia.

Khachaturyan made the remark in his statement on Sunday, April 24, the 107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. He also visited Tsitsernakaberd to lay a wreath at the Genocide memorial.

The President said the survivors of the Genocide manifested an unbreakable will to live and create, started families, built schools and churches, established communities.

"The Diaspora Armenians enriched the social, business, and cultural palette of the countries where they lived, showing the Armenian talent and exceptional abilities, and bringing glory and honor to our people," he said.

"The best way of paying tribute to the memory of our martyred compatriots is to establish a strong, democratic Armenia, ensure the well-being of our people, secure the borders of our country, and reinforce Armenia's international prestige."

On April 24, 1915, a large group of Armenian intellectuals was rounded up and assassinated in Constantinople by the Ottoman government. On April 24, 2022, Armenians worldwide are commemorating the 107th anniversary of the Genocide which continued until 1923. Some three dozen countries, hundreds of local government bodies and international organizations have so far recognized the killings of 1.5 million Armenians as Genocide. Turkey denies to this day.
