Roma and Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan reportedly continue to negotiate a contract extension.
The parties are said to be close to concluding an agreement, but have not yet settled one detail – the duration of the contract. The 33-year-old player reportedly hopes to extend his cooperation with the club for two years, while the leadership of Roma is offering him a one-year contract with the possibility of an automatic extension for another season, journalist Nicolo Schira said.
"They are confident to reach an agreement," Schira wrote on Twitter.
Mkhitaryan played several games for Arsenal in 2019 before joining Italian club A.S. Roma on a season-long loan deal. On 31 August 2020, Mkhitaryan's contract with Arsenal was cancelled by mutual consent and he joined Roma on a permanent deal.
